Preparations
A shrub or tree native to Bolivia, Columbia, Ecuador, and Peru, Buddleja incana is found at high elevations at the bottoms of canyons along stream beds. In Ecuador, B. incana is traditionally prepared as an infusion (tea) and taken at a dosage of 2 cups per day.
To make the infusion, Ecuadorans traditionally use a ratio of 100 g to 1 liter of water. Applying the same ratio of plant material to water (e.g., 25 g to 250 mL of water), place the dried herb in a tea ball or gauze bag and allow it to steep in freshly boiled hot water in a covered pot for 10–15 minutes. Pour the infusion through a fine strainer to remove any sediment and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well-sealed container.
Caution: Not for internal use during pregnancy or lactation. If you are taking medications or have a medical condition, consult with a health care professional before use. Keep this product out of the reach of children.
