Preparations
Carqueja is taken in the form of a tincture, in capsules, or as an infusion (tea). The infusion is taken at a dosage of half a cup, 2 to 3 times daily.
To prepare an infusion of Carqueja, place 1 tsp. of the powdered aerial parts in a tea ball or gauze bag and allow it steep in 8 oz. of freshly boiled hot water in a covered pot for 10–15 minutes. Pour the infusion through a fine strainer to remove any sediment and allow it to cool for a time before drinking. Refrigerate unused portions in a well-sealed container.
